It often feels daunting to start therapy. It is common to have ambivalence about engaging in such a process without knowing how you might fit with a provider. Truthfully, a therapist’s tone, wordage, and even volume of their voice can help you feel like you might connect (it’s not scientific, I know!) It’s also important to feel like they might really understand what you’re experiencing. It can help to talk to a few providers on the phone before you pick one. We can start with an initial phone call and determine if it would be helpful to meet for a session. Sometimes, it can take a meeting or two to figure out if it feels like a good fit.
